After a busy 2007, where Tribali performed at the prestigious Glastonbury festival in UK as well as sold out big events in Malta, the band are looking at 2008 with enthusiasm. Following their debut album released in 2006 which has surpassed all expectations the band are currently writing their second album which they hope to record during summer and release by the end of this year.
“ World music is a genre which is relatively new in Malta but thanks to Tribali and other local crossover/ folk acts it has managed to create a niche which is growing in numbers. In fact not only has this become a genre, which is getting a lot of attention locally through packed out live events as Earth Garden, but it has also become a genre which Record Companies are seriously looking into more than ever. In fact we are happy to say that we have concluded a worldwide distribution deal for Tribali starting this month,” said Howard Keith from Jagged House Management.
Tribali will be kicking off their live performances this year in Australia. Thanks to their management, Jagged House, the band was invited to participate at the prestigious Blues and Roots festival, held in Byron Bay, East Coast in Australia with an audience attendance of 80,000 people. This huge 5-day festival, voted 15 times as the best festival in Australia and best Festival in an awards ceremony in the US last year, is an annual appointment where big artists from around the world participate. “In fact Tribali will be performing 3 times on the Apra stage and this will definitely be a good showcase for the band putting them on he right platform for their genre.” added Harriet Cochrane from Jagged House Management.
Whilst in 2007 the band had numerous memorable performances there’s only one performance planned in Malta and possibly one in Gozo this summer since the band is currently working on their second album due for release at the end of this year.
