A 37-year-old man was yesterday granted bail against a personal guarantee of €1,000 after he pleaded not guilty to assaulting his girlfriend and slightly injuring a policewoman.
Stephen Pirotta, from Luqa, pleaded not guilty to violently resisting a police inspector and the policewoman, threatening police officers, beaching the peace and saying obscene language in public while drunk on Sunday afternoon at Floriana.
Before Magistrate Giovanni Grixti, the man pleaded not guilty also to causing his girlfriend to fear that violence would be used against her, threatening her and relapsing.
Police Inspector James Grech prosecuted while Dr Anglu Farrugia appeared defence counsel.
