Malta Maritime Authority Chairman Marc Bonello yesterday sued Malta Labour Party Maritime Affairs Spokesman José Herrera over comments which he felt were libellous.

Dr Herrera, in a party activity on Thursday, had said that Dr Bonello’s architectural studio had won two tenders in the construction of the Cirkewwa and Mgarr terminal; thus accusing him of conflict of interest.

Dr Bonello denied the allegations and held them as defamatory. To this end, he commenced proceedings against Dr Herrera both in the civil and criminal courts.

The writ was signed by Dr Ivan Gatt.
