For the month of March Fino will turn our attention to the cultural aspect by celebrating Malta’s theatrical heritage.

The March photo-shoot saw the Lighthouse team set up a sumptuous Fino living room on the stage of the theatre in St James Cavalier. This formidable building was once a defensive outpost on Valletta’s highest bastion and has since been converted into a Centre for Creativity. Its old reservoir now houses one of the island’s most prestigious theatres where the more avant-garde plays are frequently staged. Here they met with Liliana Portelli – a vibrant example of Maltese passion for the arts.

The Well-known actress Liliana Portelli is one of the founding members of Theatre Anon – a group whose theatrical productions of such classics as Metamorphosis and Candide are still remembered for their aesthetic splendour and intellectually provocative interpretations. Liliana also combines her love of costume design into her craft and her creations have graced several plays throughout the years. Liliana admits that when she’s in the middle of a production, the show temporarily takes over her life, as she often works long into the night on the costumes and the million other different things that typically make up a theatrical production.

Establishing the living room on the

theatre’s stage for the shoot was refreshingly easy for a change as the stage is essentially built for this very purpose. The furniture was quickly put in place and the available theatre lighting enabled the crew to create any mood that they wished to convey at the touch of a button. In that secluded environment, inside the heart of a fortress dedicated to the arts and with Liliana’s infectious energy, it wasn’t very long before the border between real life and the stage became virtually indistinguishable.

March promises to be yet another exciting month in the Fino calendar, as it is the first Living Room Event of the year. By far the most complex room in the house, people are sometimes confused whether to go for comfort or for style when it comes to their living room. Whereas some opt for a cosy and personal den, others prefer a welcoming and spacious place to entertain.

Luckily, Fino had ideal solutions for all of these dilemmas thanks to a rich selection of settees by Chateau d’Ax and Doimo, as well as a wide selection of wall units, TV consoles and coffee tables by brands such as Tonin Casa, Europeo, Alivar and Ligne Roset. The March Living Room Event also sees the culmination of the special DOIMO offer, which includes a free 42” Samsung LCD HD TV with every ‘Amleto’ model (by Doimo) purchased.
