Following the successful blood donation day, The Grand Hotel Excelsior’s next initiative was to visit the residents at the Elderly Home in Floriana.

Residing at the home there are 46 very friendly, young at heart residents. Our visit was highly appreciated and the Excelsior was actually one of the favourite topics since most of the residents are from Floriana & Valletta, and therefore remember the empty terrain where the hotel is presently built, and so were all expecting updates! We left each with mementos of our visit.

This visit pleasantly surprised all committee members and was an informative experience. By taking some time off our routine and spending quality time in their company, we helped them relive past experiences and we also created a diversion in their normal routine, which did go down very well! One of the residents, a lovely centenarian who celebrated her 101 birthday very recently is still very lively & independent. So are most of the residents.

With homes like this, one cannot fear loneliness because of the staff dedication; they strive to maintain a peaceful & loving environment.

Although they long for their loved ones’ visits, they are very thankful for the ones that take care of them everyday. A special thanks goes to Tonio Naudi, who, without hesitation accepted our invitation.

Ms Grixti, HR Manager has set up the “Aid the Community” committee, totally made up of team members who volunteered, and are committed to organising these events.
