Malta Independent Saturday, 12 April 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Today, Beangrowers are launching their latest album “Not In A Million Lovers”. The launch will take place at Poxx Bar Paceville at a gig which will also feature Nosnow/Noalps.

“Not In A Million Lovers” is the band’s fourth album. It was produced by David Vella and mixed by Teo Miller (Blur, Placebo, Happy Mondays) and David Vella.

The band is now signed to American label Minty Fresh who are shortly releasing “Not In A Million Lovers” for North America. Minty Fresh have amongst others released albums from The Cardigans, Waterboys and Veruca Salt.

In fact, the band has just returned from the USA where they were invited for the third time to play in the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in Austin, Texas, and where Minty Fresh presented Beangrowers to the American press. Amongst other activities, Beangrowers did a live interview for the SX studio series held at the Austin Convention Centre, during which they also had the opportunity to talk about Malta and the local music scene. The band even had the opportunity to meet some of their music heroes such as Lou Reed, Thurston Moore (from Sonic Youth) and Kim Deal (from Pixies).

Meanwhile a video has been released for the title-track “Not In A Million Lovers”. The video was produced and directed by Duncan Bone and has been getting a tremendous response. In fact it made Youtube UK’s Top 10 (alongside such bands as REM, Portishead and The Kooks). It has also been featured on Pitchfork Media which with an audience of 240,000 readers per day is the most popular independent-focused music publication online.

In the coming months, the new album will also be released in the UK, Germany and France.

Today’s gig will also see the participation of special guests Nosnow/Noalps who have just released their debut EP “Just Rock” and whose track “Taking My Time” has been a big success on the local radios and charts.

DJs Antonio and Banny will keep the crowd entertained in between and after the bands.

Entry for the gig is e6 and for e10 one can buy the album and get in for gig.

The night is sponsored by Cisk Export.
