A group of banking and finance university students, together with foreign finance students visiting Malta as part of the Erasmus Exchange Programme, recently visited BOV Centre in Sta Venera.
Led by Professor Joe Falzon, Head of the Banking and Finance Faculty at the University of Malta, the students were addressed by Charles Borg, Chief Officer Financial Markets and Investments at BOV, and Kenneth Farrugia, General Manager of Valletta Fund Services Limited.
In his presentation, Mr Farrugia provided information on the key success factors that were driving the strong growth of Malta’s Fund Industry. Within this context, Valletta Fund Management, the BOV’s Group’s strategic alliance with Insight Investment Management, the fund management arm of the HBOS Group in the UK, has close to US$1 billion in funds under management. On the other hand, Valletta Fund Services, the fully owned subsidiary of Bank of Valletta, is administering in excess of US$1.4 billion dollars and currently servicing fund promoters based in Malta, UK, Holland, Czech Republic, South Africa, Switzerland and Italy.
The Erasmus exchange programme seeks to enhance the quality of cooperation between higher education institutions, while improving transparency and academic recognition of studies and qualifications throughout all member States of the European Union and other countries participating in the Socrates Programme.
