The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) in collaboration with Emirates Airline and InterContinental Malta are holding a vibrant evening of Cypriot cuisine, music, dance and entertainment on Saturday from 8pm onwards.
Themed Love Cyprus, the event will be held at Harruba Restaurant, Inter-Continental Malta, St Julian’s.
Ponomis Christos, the leading chef at InterContinental Aphrodite Hills in Cyprus, will create typical delights of Cypriot cuisine. This will include a sumptuous buffet and a selection of mezes made with fine ingredients flown directly from Cyprus for the occasion.
Mr Christos began his culinary career in 1997 at the age of 18 years, and continued his formative training at the Higher Hotel Institute in Nicosia. Prior to joining InterContinental Aphrodite Hills, he served as chef at various restaurants within Le Meridien Limassol & Spa Resort for five years.
Twelve performers consisting of musicians and dancers from the folkloristic group Akrites Geriou will be presenting a show of traditional music and dance. Typical skilled dances such as the Tatchia, Drepani, and Glasses will be performed by soloists during the evening.
Founded in 1990 in the village of Geri, located southeast of the capital Nicosia, Akrites Geriou is composed of some 300 members, mainly musicians and dancers. The group performed at many international festivals in Europe and the Middle East.
