New Retail area at MIA

Malta Independent Sunday, 27 April 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

As from December, the Nuance Group will be increasing its presence at MIA with a new retail area of around 670 sq mt.

This expansion falls in line with MIA’s extension plans that are taking place to include additional security lanes and a larger and more modern executive lounge due to the projected increase in traffic. This novel retail concept for the airport will provide the passenger with an enhanced travel and shopping experience whereby a variety of products ranging from a now combined perfume, skin care and cosmetic section, to confectionery, tobacco, liquor and international wines, as well as toy sections, will be available in virtually a shopping mall walk-through.

The new establishment is situated in the Schengen departures area. Since starting its activity in Malta, Nuance has developed a very strong retail operation and has manifested professional know-how and expertise in sales techniques in the airport retail field at the service of travellers, also contributing significantly to MIA’s results, which indeed confirms the successful partnership that has evolved.

In fact this new concept store at the airport is the result of the successful conclusion of an agreement which was signed recently between MIA and the Nuance Group whereby Nuance is guaranteeing a minimum of 25.5 million euros revenue to MIA up to the end of 2014 on maturity of the contract.
