Malta Independent Thursday, 26 June 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

The Vella Brothers Group has recently launched a new suggestion scheme for its employees.

The scope of the scheme is to promote ideas for the overall improvement of the company’s operations.

Jonathan Vella (director, project manager business strategy) said, “This scheme is aimed to encourage employees to contribute constructive ideas for improving the organisation. It should also enhance staff morale and achieve more employee motivation.

“The group believes that creative talent exists in each employee and that they have the ability and are well placed to make suggestions to improve the way their job is being done”

The first initiative under this scheme was the actual naming of this initiative. There were almost 100 names suggested. The name chosen was that put forward by Kevin Filletti (assistant sales manager – Express Trailers), “Express It”.

Mr Filletti said that “the term ‘express’ is entwined with our group. Two of the companies which form the group are Express Trailers and Express Freights”.

As a reward for this suggestion, Mr Filletti was awarded a one-night stay at the Westin Dragonara Resort, St. Julian’s. The presentation was made by Roberta Vella, who is in charge of the suggestion scheme.

Ms Vella said that the company believes in rewarding its employees who come up with innovative ideas and contribute towards the growth of the group.

“We are a service oriented company. Our people make the difference and as such are a vital asset for our success.

“The group, started by my grandfather Emmanuel Vella, had a humble start. Today we’re a leader in providing total logistic solutions, because like 60 years ago, we value our workers who together with us, form our organisation’s family.”
