The new look Head & Shoulders was unveiled during a boat trip held exclusively for the press on Monday. The event kicked off with a cruise aboard the beautiful gullet, Fernandez II, where Managing Director of VJ Salomone Marketing Ltd, Victor Galea, welcomed all aboard and introduced the great new look and versatile range of the new Head & Shoulders variants.
For over 40 years, Head & Shoulders has been evolving to meet the needs of around 50 per cent of the world’s population who show signs of dandruff. Now Head & Shoulders has an exciting new look – contemporary packaging bringing a modern touch to the world’s number one* anti-dandruff shampoo.
Rene Rust, Senior Scientist with Head & Shoulders (UK) who is based in the UK and came over to Malta for the Head & Shoulders launch, explained how H&S scientists have generated in-depth knowledge of dandruff, its causes and treatments over the last decades to optimise the H&S formulas to provide maximum bioavailability of the active ingredient, pyrithione zinc to the Malassezia yeast, which causes dandruff. “The latest formula upgrade, Hydrazinc, shows the best anti-dandruff activity in the history of H&S and is a good example of applying the latest science to our products.
“At the same time, we have developed the cosmetic benefits of our products to deliver technologies that are tailored to meet consumers’ needs. Today, we are more than ever focused on the beauty aspects of haircare, but we are doing this in an unexpected way by taking care of the source of healthy, beautiful hair, your scalp – in addition to caring for your hair directly. This has resulted in the largest range of products in the history of H&S.
“H&S is at the forefront of fundamental scientific research to further drive the understanding of the causes of dandruff – a good example for this work is the sequencing of the complete genome of the Malassezia yeast that was published recently. The revelation of the genome sequence of Malassezia is a scientific breakthrough that will aid more targeted treatment of dandruff in the future and also has broader scientific implications.”
Dr Rust then introduced Ira Losco who took the guests through her own spotlight moments and the key tips to self-confidence. “Self confidence is really the key to personal success, whether you’re socialising, or performing on the job,” said Ira Losco. “High self esteem is not only a sense of self worth but also feeling and looking good. Personal grooming should be part and parcel of everybody’s daily routines, with quality products on each and every bathroom shelf.”
The boat trip rounded off at the Westin’s stylish Bedouin Bar where other guests were waiting to hear all about this exciting new range of a brand which has regularly proven to deliver results-driven solutions for a variety of hair types and dilemmas.
The event also launched the Head & Shoulders Photo Booth Competition. An H&S Photo Booth will be travelling to different beaches throughout July around Malta and Gozo, giving the public the opportunity to take original, inventive and creative photos picturing the idea of “getting closer”. The persons in the winning photo will collectively win an unusual and memorable holiday to a European destination. Voting for the winning shot depends entirely on the public and voting will happen online.
The evening closed off with a short performance by Ira Losco.
