HSBC has donated e2,330 to the Kirkop local council for the publication of a book entitled Hal Kirkop u l-inhawi ta’ madwarna – It-II Volum written by historian Prof. H.C.R. Vella.
This is part of HSBC’s scheme to assist in the completion of projects identified by local councils in Malta and Gozo for the improvement of the community.
The 366-page illustrated book documents the history and culture of this traditional village and its surroundings between 1680-1840.
“Kirkop has a rich history and a fascinating culture and tradition. We are grateful that, with the support of HSBC, the expertise of Prof. Vella could be published into this highly interesting and informative book outlining our treasured heritage for the enjoyment not only of our community but for the rest of interested readers and future generations,” said Kirkop’s mayor Mario Salerno.
“It is indeed the aim of HSBC’s scheme to help local councils to carry out projects that make a difference to their community’s life or knowledge,” said Francis Gouder, HSBC’s Area Director – South.
