SmartCity Kochi, a joint venture between SmartCity and the government of Kerala, has signed the lease agreement for the remaining 11.4 acres of land that makes up the northern land parcel of 133 acres.
Out of the 246 acres of land over which SmartCity Kochi extends, it currently has in-formal SEZ approval of 133 acres of the land. In order to be in a further planning stage once the SEZ notification status is granted, SmartCity Kochi has already taken significant steps forward by appointing Colin Buchanan as its master planners, Mouchel as the infrastructure design and implementation consultants, and Hill International as the project management consultants for the SmartCity Kochi integrated township.
The signing of this land agreement will enable SmartCity Kochi to progress with the SEZ notification process. Like all developments of this size, there are many technicalities that need thorough consideration, such as the PWD road and the KSEB land. In parallel to clarifying such technicalities however, SmartCity Kochi is moving forward with realising the township and is currently in the process of setting up a fully functional sales office in Kochi. The sales office will allow direct contact with potential business partners and allow a more hands-on approach to the development and relations between SmartCity Kochi and its stakeholders.
