In line with its primary objective to provide the very best in health care in a professional, caring and understanding manner, Bupa has recently extended its support for a newly launched platform that facilitates health promotion – SMS4Health.
GlobalCapital Health Insurance Agency, representatives of Bupa in Malta, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Medical Portals Ltd, developers and promoters of SMS4Health, to support the initiative and contribute to increasing awareness about the benefits of using the system. SMS4Health reminds its subscribers about their routine health check-ups by sending SMS’s. The system will be available from leading family doctors. In the near future, the system will extend to other medical services. SMS4Health also sends educational SMS’s as well as information SMS’s when for example a medical product is recalled from the market – the latter has already been put to practice and has proven to be an effective information tool.

On 25 July, Adriana Zarb Adami, Bupa Malta Manager, delivered a presentation during a symposium entitled ‘Thinking Prevention’, organised to introduce SMS4Health amongst doctors and medical practitioners.
The symposium highlighted the need for doctors to introduce practices that facilitate risk factor identification and management and underlined the importance of using patient contact as an opportunity to disseminate health prevention information. The meeting also discussed national health promotion strategies.
Mrs Zarb Adami explained that Bupa has strengthened its working relationships with like-minded medical care suppliers and private hospitals such as The St James Group and Medical Laboratory Services, St Anne’s Clinic, St Mark’s Clinic, Klinika MisrahKola and Da Vinci Hospital, to facilitate access and ease the burden on patients requiring private medical care.
She explained that the recent agreements with these private entities clearly indicate Bupa’s strong intentions to consolidate its presence in Malta as the premier service provider in private health insurance cover.
“Doctors, partnering private hospitals and Bupa clients are equally set to benefit from these service agreements. Our efforts in this regard embody Bupa’s resolve to sustain long-term client relationships based on the promise of enabling superior private health care” added Mrs Zarb Adami.
