Twenty-six local companies took part in a job fair organised recently by the Employment and Training Corporation. The job fair was held to meet the needs of local employers with those of unemployed people and people seeking alternative work.
The job fair held at Robert Samut Hall in Floriana attracted hundreds of visitors. The participant companies had several meetings with visitors and called a number of them for interviews.
A mini Job Centre was set up by ETC at the fair. ETC employment advisers provided visitors with information on current job vacancies in the local labour market and abroad. Training advisers from ETC also briefed people on the importance of lifelong learning and the wide spectrum of training courses the Corporation offers.
As ETC considers private employment agencies partners in its mission, local private employment agencies were invited to participate. MISCO and People Solutions had stands at the fair and met several people who were interested in the vacancies they were offering. MCAST also had a stand at the fair that provided information on the importance of training and re-training.
ETC plans to hold this fair again in the coming years. For more updated information on ETC services, training programmes and current job vacancies registered with ETC, visit www.etc.gov.mt.
