The Malta Financial Services Authority, the Institute of Financial Services – Malta and the Malta Funds Industry Association announced that they will be jointly launching a training program in fund administration. The training is spread over 12 sessions of two hours each, starting today.
This premier program aims to provide participants with an in-depth coverage of various aspects of fund administration. The areas that will be covered by the program will include the various legal forms of investment funds, the role of the functionaries to a fund, fund valuation and accounting issues, transfer agency procedures, as well as compliance and risk management issues.
\Kenneth Farrugia, President of the Malta Funds Industry Association stated “The Fund Industry continues to record significant growth with Assets under Management reaching e9 billion as at 30 June 2008 spread over 295 funds.” He added “As more funds and fund promoters continue to choose Malta as their fund domicile, it is essential that, as an industry, we do not only continue investing in technology and infrastructure, but equally important we invest in our people through the provision of professional training programmes. It is with this in mind that the Association has teamed up with the MFSA and the Institute of Financial Services to launch this programme. Apart from the depth that this training programme will provide, attendees will also benefit from 24 hours of CPE accreditation authorised by the Malta Institute of Accountants”.
Joseph Abdilla, president of the Institute of Financial Services stated that the Institute was delighted to support this programme which is aimed at helping enhance the expertise in a very specialised field.
Paul Vella, director human resource and development unit at the Malta Financial Services Authority said that this training program forms part of the overall efforts being undertaken by the MFSA’s Education Consultative Council to enhance professionalism amongst the current and prospective employees within the industry.
