The Malta Federation of Industry together with Consorzio Med Europe Export organised a trade mission to Messina in Sicily last week. A delegation of 10 Maltese entrepreneurs in the building, construction and environment and energy-related fields met with around 35 Sicilian companies and professionals during the two-day workshop held at the Confindustria premises in Messina.

The primary objective of this collaboration between the Malta Federation of Industry, Consorzio Med Europe Export and Confindustria Sicilia was the exploitation of potential synergies, and exploring the possible creation of various types of networks between Sicilian and Maltese entrepreneurs.

The workshop gave Maltese entrepreneurs the opportunity to explore possible business ventures with Sicilian establishments, as well as the opportunity to exchange information and best practices, and also new sales leads.

FOI members forming part of the trade mission included Camilleri & Cuschieri Consulting Engineers, CD Power Saving, ECO Group, Asfaltar, Bitmac, and C&V Polymer.

Following the trade mission all delegate companies expressed their satisfaction with the visit.

Ing. C. Cuschieri, of Camilleri & Cuschieri Consulting Engineers said, “The meetings with the Sicilian and Italian businessmen were very well organised and some of the meetings proved to be very informative and provided a good opportunity, which we hope we can develop for future business.”

The internationalisation of Maltese companies is crucial in an ever-increasing competitive environment and this is one of FOI’s primary objectives, in terms of services to its members.
