Ethiopian asylum seeker Ismael Obassa Hussein was charged yesterday with a number of violent acts against police officers on Friday morning, both at Marsa and at Hamrun.
He was charged with resisting arrest, damaging a car, threatening a police officer’s family with violence and damaging the police station in Hamrun, trying to obstruct a police car while he was a passenger in it and causing further mayhem in the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital.
Duty Magistrate Myriam Hayman denied Hussein bail and he is being detained at the Corradino Correctional Facility.
