Expanding In Central Europe

Malta Independent Sunday, 21 December 2008, 00:00 Last update: about 19 years ago

As part of plans to better serve its growing Central European sector, Emirates SkyCargo has appointed cargo sales agencies in three key markets. It has signed agreements with Globe Air Cargo, a European cargo service company in Hungary, Romania and Bulgaria, to sell cargo capacity on its freighters and in the hold of its 114-strong fleet of wide-bodied passenger aircraft.

Emirates SkyCargo moves mainly machinery and spares for the construction industry from Central Europe to the Middle East and Australia, while textiles and garments from the Far East account for the bulk of the inbound traffic.

Cargo from Hungary and Romania will predominantly be trucked to Vienna, from where Emirates SkyCargo operates daily passenger and weekly freighter services, while Bulgarian traffic will go via Istanbul and Athens. Emirates SkyCargo operates 11 passenger and three freighter flights a week from Istanbul and daily passenger flights from Athens. Each passenger flight can carry a minimum of 10 tonnes of cargo.

Emirates SkyCargo is represented in Malta by Cassar & Cooper Ltd and enquiries can be made at Air Cargo House, Ganni Vassallo Street, Luqa, on 2166 0102, or at [email protected]

Emirates flies on a daily schedule from Malta to Dubai via Larnaca, Cyprus.
