Malta Independent Sunday, 18 January 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 13 years ago

Two years after its inception, the Maltese language portal www.englishmaltesedictionary.com is being launched in a light version for third generation mobile phones. This will enable anyone, anywhere to look for and translate any word from English to Maltese. The website is also experiencing a considerable amount of interest from European countries and the United States.

“We are excited with these excellent results and are looking forward at expanding this website onto the third generation Internet enabled mobile phones. What started out as an experiment has today morphed into a state of the art English to Maltese translator,” said a spokesperson for the language portal.

Statistics reveal that this website is receiving around 1,000 daily hits, 30 per cent of which are from European countries and 10 per cent from the United States and Canada.

An enormous amount of feedback received from daily users is helping the dictionary grow with several updates being uploaded weekly.

Mobile phone users can log on to www.englishmaltesedictionary.com and use the dictionary while on the move.
