There are Bond girls and then there are Nescafé girls. Carrie, one of Malta’s upcoming and eclectic female indie singers is the latest in a string of local talents, to lend her playful yet compelling voice for Nescafé’s 2009 jingle due to be aired throughout the next radio campaign on the local airwaves.
Commissioned by Nestlé Malta, the new Nescafé jingle sung by Carrie was recorded at Howard Keith’s studios and is expected to be one of the main features in the brand’s promotion during the coming months.
The theme of the jingle is based on the brand’s tag line This is Your Moment, Your Nescafé and emphasises that stopping for a coffee should be a moment of relaxation, a personal experience of pleasure and indulgence.
“Nothing wakes you up as Nescafé does and having sung its way to millions, Nescafé has established itself as a brand which is impossible to forget also thanks to the popular and catchy tunes of its jingles,” explains Claire Carey, Marketing Manager at Nestlé Malta.
“Being Malta’s most popular brand of coffee, it is only natural for us to associate Nescafé with one of Malta’s upcoming talented singers. Nestlé’s formula of casting an upcoming singer to sing its Nescafé jingle has the purpose of turning the jingle into an opportunity for the singer to promote her voice and her talent to a wide audience everytime the jingle is played. Moreover, it is also an established norm that Nescafé associates itself with local talent in the different countries where it enjoyes a leading presence.”
Carrie has already succeeded in attracting the attention of several promoters and has found herself singing to huge crowds at the YMCA Bob Geldof concert as well as at Sting’s afterparty, both held in Malta. Other performances included the Europavox festival in France, a performance in Ragusa, Sicily, and several local festivals including the 10th Anniversary of Teatru Unplugged at the Teatru Manoel, the Farsons Beer Festival, the Bay Music Awards and the Xfm music festival featuring Bob Sinclar as well as Malta’s finest acts.
