John Stivala was appointed general manager of JLT Insurance Management Malta Limited effective as from 26 January. He takes responsibility for the overall operation and for business development. Mr Stivala has worked in the insurance industry for the past 20 years in senior positions in underwriting and captive management operations.

JLT Insurance Management Malta Limited is a joint venture between Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Elmo Insurance. Through captive management services, JLT seeks to improve the economic wealth its corporate clients create by enabling them to effectively finance the risks their businesses face more effectively. JLT had identified a growing interest from companies in establishing captives in an EU domicile. This set it off on a partnership that acknowledged Malta as the domicile of choice and Elmo as the preferred partner for this venture.
