It was a matter of serious concern for health and the quality of life in Malta that, according to an EU study, the people on Malta and Gozo are among the most disquieted in the EU about pollution in their country, Labour MP Leo Brincat, party spokesman for the environment, said.
The biggest responsibility fell on the government especially as just days ago another independent survey had shown that the environment situation in Malta, and other related issues were also hurting tourism.
Almost one quarter of Maltese surveyed had complained about noise pollution, Mr Brincat said. There was only one other EU country, Latvia, which seemed to have worse problems in the sector than Malta.
