Charles Grech & Co Ltd of Valley Road Birkirkara (established in 1881) importers of finest wines, spirits, beer and tobacco has appointed a new general manager. Peter Bonello has been appointed general manager as from January.

Mr Bonello succeeds Mr Robert Vella who joined the company in 1966 and will continue to provide his services to the company as a consultant.

Mr Bonello is a qualified accountant and is no new comer to Charles Grech. He joined the company in 1978 as an accounts clerk. He acquired vast experience within the organisation. In 1980 he joined the Shipping Department where he used to process shipping and customs documents for the Duty Free market and importation documents for the domestic market.

Mr Bonello also gathered experience as a sales assistant in the Valletta retail outlet and afterwards as a sales representative in the domestic market.

In 1985 he returned to the Finance Department where he furthered his studies and qualified as a warranted accountant.

He was later appointed assistant to the general manager and during the past 10 years Mr Bonello has been very active in the company’s decision making process.

Apart from being distributors for the domestic market and the travel retail of finest wines, spirits, beer and tobacco, the organisation also operates two retail outlets, one in Valley Road Birkirkara and another at Islets Promenade in Bugibba.

Charles Grech & Co Ltd are presently refurbishing their outlet in Republic Street Valletta which will be officially opened in the very near future.
