As the Kellogg’s Special K sponsorship arrangement with the Lotus Spa Gym at Le Méridien St Julians Hotel and Spa enters its second month, the focus is on specific exercise regimes that can produce results.
For those who frequent the Lotus Spa Gym are not just aiming to keep fit, but perhaps seeking to de-stress, let off anger and frustration, working on specific parts of their body or building up for a specific event. And having the nutrition their body needs at the right quantities ensures that they get the performance they need.
The Kellogg’s Special K promotion has been well received by patrons of the Lotus Gym, with the range of cereal bars available.
No fewer than 11 different classes are offered, with a choice of times to suite the busy schedules of the different participants. The peak times are the morning and 7 pm, with a different class being held practically every day.
Monday is the most popular day of the week, with no fewer than four classes as members strive to work off those extra calories put on at the weekend. First off is Cardio Fun – Hilo aerobics, including three blocks of aerobic choreography guaranteed to burn fat at high energy levels. The class is open to all levels as one can work at either high or low intensity.
Next comes one of three yoga classes held throughout the week at different times with a certified yoga instructor, who teaches the subject in its ancient and traditional purity within a modern scientific framework. The instructor believes that yoga is for everyone, no matter their age or limitations, and enjoys customising classes to accommodate a variety of conditions.
The evening session starts with circuit training, followed by B.L.T. (body conditioning). Circuit training is short bursts of resistance exercise with frequent repetitions. Each exercise is followed by another exercise targeting a different muscle group. The BLT workout is designed to build core strength and get toned as one works the upper and lower body using hand weights and own body weight.
Another morning session is Tone and Step (see picture). This is a fat burning workout using the step, then conditioning to tone and shape the body.
