In the Sicilian City of Modica the organisers of DEAI, a festival Meeting Japan (Incontro col Gappone) invited Maltese artist Paul Haber to show his rakujaki ceramics together with four other raku artists at the historic Palazzo Grimaldi in the picturesque city of Modica which is a World Natural and Cultural Heritage City.
The festival was organised in the name of friendship, peace and cooperation between people from different cultures and traditiaons. The manifestation organised by Rotary International Club di Modica in collaboration with the Japanese Cultural Institute and the Grimaldi Foundation was held under the auspices of the Comune di Modica and the Provincia Regionale di Ragusa and the Instituto Principi Grimaldi di Modica and was sponsored by various private entities who supported the various events.
Paul Haber made an excellent impression on all visitors with his Raku sculptures, which are very unusual even in an international context. The laudatory comments by the public, tourists, VIPs, Japanese participants and fellow artists, on his visitors’ book should make Malta proud.
