The 16th edition of the Lufthansa Cargo Awards took place on 14 May at the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry in Valletta. Forwarding agents and prominent shippers were invited for this event which has been held annually for the last 16 years.

Silver and Gold awards were rewarded to forwarders and shippers who have contributed to the success of Lufthansa Cargo in 2008. The event was also an occasion where the Area Director of Italy and Malta Thilo Schaefer was handing over the responsibility to Thomas Egenolf as new Director. Tony Mifsud, Manager and country representative of Lufthansa Cargo in Malta thanked the clients for their support especially in these days of turbulence at the air cargo industry where Lufthansa Cargo has stepped up its activity by introducing a main deck capacity through its MD11F weekly operation from Malta.

This flight links Malta with India and the UAE on its way to Frankfurt. Mr Mifsud also thanked Mr Schaefer for his support and his commitment in the last 6 years and augured Mr Egenolf great success in his new position.
