On Thursday evening, Kevin Blackwell and the Sheffield United squad attended the Blades Charity Evening.

The event was supported by the well-liked Sheffield band Craine and Maltese singing sensation Ira Losco, who has been the island’s best selling artist for three consecutive years.

The prestigious event was hosted at the Grand Excelsior Hotel Yacht Club in aid of the Inspire Foundation, which is a new Maltese charity working in the disability sector. The foundation currently supports over 1,000 children and adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Guests enjoyed the opportunity to get autographs from the United squad, as well as soaking up the Yacht Club’s vibrant atmosphere. Located on the doorstep of the city of Valletta, it prides itself on its unique and breathtaking views of the island.

The harbour setting provided a perfect backdrop for Ira Losco and popular Sheffield band Craine to stage a memorable live performance in support of the Inspire Foundation.

Earlier in the week, the Malta Junior Blades hosted an Inspire Foundation Charity Party at the Splash and Fun water park. Yesterday evening, two disabled children represented the charity as the official mascots for the game between Sheffield United and Maltese Premier League club Floriana.

Sheffield United Executive Director Mike Farnan said: “We hope the Blades Charity events will help raise awareness of what a fantastic job the Inspire Foundation has achieved in such a short period, while also ensuring more disabled children and adults from the island can benefit from the charity’s work.”
