Pistol Club under the auspices of the Malta Sport Shooting Federation at the Bidnija Ranges.
William Vella, the winner of a silver medal in the Cyprus GSSE, was in a class of his own when he registered a tremendous score of 575 points to win comfortably by a 25 point margin over second placed Lawrence Darmanin, who scored 550 points.
Third place went to youngster Charlo Chircop with a score of 536. New starter Michael Xuereb also obtained a creditable personal best score of 501.
In the Air-Pistol event, Ray Cacciattolo was the winner with 536 score ahead of newcomer Vincent Borg who obtained a good score of 506 points in his first air-pistol competition. Third place went to Martin Grech with a score of 486.
The Open Air-Rifle event was won by Eleanor Bezzina with a score of 516 ahead of young Garreth Cutajar who could only manage a score of 386 in his second competition. However both shooters have excellent prospects for the future in air-rifle shooting.
International referee Mr Gino Galea officiated the shooting competitions according to ISSF regulations.
The next selection shoot will be held next Saturday 18 July at the Bidnija Air-Gun ranges.
