The role of the European Fair Play movement, which was founded in 1994, is to promote Fair Play, in partnership with national sport associations, bearing in mind that sport has no future without values.

In today’s world, the battle to preserve the values and principles of sport needs constant commitment and determination from all quarters, be they governmental and non-governmental organisations, in the field of sport.

Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport has recently taken the “onus” of being Malta’s representatives on this Movement and, subsequently, will be supporting various activities organised by the European Fair Play Movement.

As a start, a number of streamers promoting fair play have been produced and these will be exhibited in the sports facilities wherever KMS organises its various sport activities and programmes.

In the meantime, a group has been has been formed with the aim to visit schools, during the next scholastic year, to lecture both on the importance of Fair Play as well as to encourage schools to set up teams to promote the true value of sports.

Recently, KMS has been presented with ten Fair Play Shields which are to be passed on to entities who are prepared to organise a Fair Play programme targeting a section of the community involved in the field of sport.

These shields were presented to Mr Bernard Vassallo, Chairman of the Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport by Mr Louis Borg, Vice President of the International FISEC Bureau. These shields were donated to Malta by the FISEC Bureau after the successful Games held here last year.
