Waterpolo – Bank Of Valletta summer league: Rivals Neptunes and Sliema meet today in top weekend clash

Malta Independent Friday, 17 July 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

The two big rivals of local waterpolo, current leaders Neptunes Vodafone and Sliema McDonalds, their immediate co-chasers with San Giljan, will be facing each other this evening at the Tal-Qroqq pool.

It is an important match as both sides will be aiming for victory for different reasons.

Neptunes at present are enjoying a two-point lead over their rivals and are certainly aware that they could extend their lead to four points which might be too big a gap to be bridged by the second and final round.

On their part, Sliema will be fighting for the points to join Neptunes at the top of the standings.

At present, Neptunes lead on 14 points, followed by Sliema and San Giljan Tropicana Juices on 12 and Sirens Ritter Sports on 10.

San Giljan and Sirens meet tomorrow in the only top division encounter, also at the Tal-Qroqq pool.
