Malta's youngster Gianluca Dingli will be taking part in today's 2009 Open Masters of Italy in Naples - Sarno.

Yesterday, after the third qualifying heat, he was occupying ninth place, moving up seven places from the 16th he earned on Friday with his time of 1 minute 11.013 secs in qualifying on Friday. Earlier, he clocked 1 minute 12.266 seconds in free practice.

Yesterday, in the first heat, he had a best lap of 1 minute 9.820 secs, moving to the 14th position after 9 laps.

In the second heat, he did not improve his time setting a best lap of 1 minute 10.557 secs, but he moved to 12th place after the 9 laps.

After the 9 laps in heat three, he had moved to ninth position with his best lap being clocked at 1 minute 10.548 secs.

He is at present 25 seconds behind the leader, Gabriele Rugin.
