This summer, the Foundation for Tomorrow’s Schools is carrying out refurbishing and modernising works at over 40 government schools, the Department of Information said yesterday. Twelve of them will get a new IT infrastructure, to enable them to exploit better information technology for teaching purposes.
Education Minister Dolores Cristina yesterday toured two schools where some of the works are underway: the boys’ junior lyceum in Hamrun and Gzira primary school. At the junior lyceum new technology workshops are being built and the science laboratories are being improved, among other works.
At other schools, the works include sports facilities and electrical works. In two schools lifts are being installed to make them more accessible to the disabled.
The foundation is also building three new schools: a primary school in Pembroke, a boys’ secondary school in Mosta and a new secondary school in Gozo.
