Birkirkara SJ Triathlon Series gets underway on Sunday

The Birkirkara St. Joseph Triathlon Series, now in its ninth edition, gets underway on Sunday, 26 July at Salina starting at 7am.

This series consists of three races on the sprint distances of a 750 metre swim, a 20 kilometre cycle and a 5 kilometre run.

The series is organised under the auspices of the Malta Triathlon Association and carries ranking points for the association’s final classification. The other two races will be held on 6 and 20 September.

During the race the Salina-Bahar ic-Caghaq Coast Road will be closed for traffic between 6.45am. and 8.45am.

The Birkirkara St Joseph Triathlon Series of races forms part of the Malta Triathlon Association annual programme valid for the Male and Female Triathlete of the Year Award.

The overall winners of the Series in the Male and Female categories will be those triathletes with the best accumulated time in all four races respectively.

e117 prize money will be given to the overall winners both in the Male and Female categories. If, in either of the two categories, there are less than three participants in the final classification, no prize money will be given for that particular category. A trophy will be presented to the first three Male and three Female triathletes in the open category and to the first placed in the other categories as shown in the Series Entry Form.

The entry fee for each race is e10 for Under 23 M.T.A. members, e12 for M.T.A. members and e14 for non-M.T.A. members as stipulated by the Malta Triathlon Association. Block entry fee for the four races is e40. Members of Birkirkara St Joseph Sports Club will have their entry fees waived on presentation of the cub membership card.
