Division 1

San Giljan were making their last gasp attempt to remain contenders in the First Division championship when they met their eternal rivals Neptunes Vodafone who were, on their part, looking to forget their recent loss against leaders Sliema McDonalds.

Neptunes raced to a 4-0 lead with Steve Camilleri scoring twice as San Giljan quickly capitulated although they managed to score at end of session after failing three man up opportunities.

The second session was more balanced although there were several errors on both sides who were wasteful in man up situations. San Giljan shaded it 3-2 with goals from Borg Spiteri, Lanzon and Pagani while Neptunes responded through Niki Lanzon and Aljosa Kunac.

San Giljan began the third session in ascendancy pulling to just one goal behind but a devastating space of a couple of minutes saw goals by Kunac, Pisani, Sottani and Galea which put Neptunes 12-6 up and practically ending the encounter as a contest.

In fact the final session was a mere formality with Neptunes continuing to add to their scoreline for a final result of 18-8. The final minutes of the match were also spoilt by some violent scenes which also saw San Giljan's Yugosalv Vasovic expelled definitely for brutality together with skirmishes among fans and players.

Division 2
