Malta Independent Friday, 11 September 2009, 00:00 Last update: about 17 years ago

Colette Sultana has left for Malmö, Sweden to take part in the Nordic Junior Open over the weekend.

This will be her first European ranking tournament for the 2009-2010 season following an intensive preparation over Summer which included a Squash Camp in Halifax, England where she trained with top British juniors under the guidance of Paul Hornsby, England Squash Level 4 Elite coach, and Lee Beachill, a former world no.1 player.

24 players, including four of the top 10 ranked juniors in Europe, will be contesting the Nordic Junior Open in the Under-15 Girls category, making this a very challenging tournament for the Maltese junior champion.

Sultana is currently ranked 30th in Europe in this age group. She will be hoping for a good draw to improve her chances of making it through the first round and to achieve a top 10 placing in the tournament.

Colette Sultana is a member of the MOC Centre of Excellence and is receiving support through the MOC Youth Athlete Scheme, Malta Squash and the Marsa Sports Club. Colette is sponsored by Wilson and coached by Paul Lake.
