Global logistics solutions provider Aramex announced this week that it has signed an agreement with Vodafone Malta to manage Vodafone’s logistics in Malta.
As part of the agreement, Aramex will provide a range of integrated logistics services to Vodafone including network logistics, retail distribution, logistics management and support, among other services. This agreement with Vodafone Malta further expands Aramex’s growing portfolio of telecommunications companies worldwide.
“Our partnership with Aramex is in line with Vodafone’s global strategy of partnering with leading service providers capable of providing flexible and customised logistics solutions to enable us to achieve our strategic business objectives,” said William Borg, senior executive at Vodafone Inventory and Logistics Management in Malta.
Under the terms of the agreement, Aramex will provide a range of logistics services, including express and freight shipping, inventory management and provision of warehouse space in its logistics centre at Mriehel Industrial Estate. The Aramex logistics centre is equipped with state-of the-art pallet and hand-picked racking systems, battery-operated handling equipment, a complete security and fire system, which include the latest CCTV facilities, and a real-time inventory management system that will allow Vodafone real-time visibility of its incoming and outgoing inventory levels.
In addition, Vodafone will also be provided with the facility to monitor its stocks 24/7 on CCTV via intranet communications. Aramex will also apply the latest logistics quality operations standards, as dictated through its Documented Quality Management System (DQMS).
Commenting on the agreement, Iyad Kamal Aramex, Chief Officer Logistics, said: “We are extremely proud to partner one of the leading telecommunications companies in Malta. With an extensive global portfolio of telecommunications clients, Aramex is uniquely positioned to service the needs of the sector. We already have a working relationship with Vodafone in other countries and this agreement is proof of our success in meeting their requirements.
“We are confident that our Malta logistics centre will meet Vodafone’s expectations and at the same time provide added value to Vodafone’s operations in Malta. This is an important step forward for Aramex towards establishing itself as a leading company in logistics solutions on the island and across the Mediterranean basin,” he said.
Aramex (Malta) was set up in January 2008 initially offering international express courier, domestic courier services, freight forwarding and Shop&Ship (an online shopping service). Manuel Agius, Aramex Country Manager, commented: “In a relatively short period of time, the Aramex Malta station has grown to be one of the leading international express courier companies in Malta, with daily services to our London, Brussels, Tripoli and Dubai hubs, providing our esteemed customers with over 280 worldwide destinations.
“As part of our strategic business objectives, we have now added Logistics and Warehouse Management Services to our portfolio of products and services. Both local and international businesses have already shown interest in our logistics concepts and I am confident that our international expertise in warehouse management systems will provide cost-effective and value added solutions to our current and future customers”.
