AMEN, the supernatural drama produced by One TV, will be keeping audiences glued to their sets this season.
The story revolves around a number of characters whose disparate paths in life gradually reveal an underlying drive towards a common purpose.
Fr Francis (Godwin Scerri) is an exorcist in charge of a young girl who is in the grips of an evil spirit. During one of her attacks, the demon confronts the priest with events that have happened in his past. Although Fr Francis is not meant to heed anything said by the possessed girl, the demon’s words seem to have genuinely upset him.
David (Simon Xuereb) is a troubled soul who lives for the moment and does not seem to have any aspirations in life besides easy sex, alcohol and photography. Rather than facing his problems he is more intent on shying away from them. He only cares about one thing: Gaby (Gertrude Borg Marks).
Meanwhile, Neville (Mark Doneo) has his share of problems with his drug dealer. He owes him a lot of money and despite the help he is getting from Daphne (Tricia Fenech Fabri), the situation is still grim. Besides this he seems to be involved in a series of gruesome murders involving young mothers.
Police inspectors Raphael (Bryan Muscat) and Tracy (Koren Scicluna) are in charge of these homicides. The killer is a tough nut to crack because he or she is very careful not to leave any clues behind. The modus operandi is however the same: a woman with a broken neck and five mysterious symbols on a wall.
Momentarily oblivious to all this is Lisa (Louise Doneo). She organises prayer meetings at her house where a number of her friends gather and share their problems. She loves helping people and seems exceptionally good at it. However, when her brother Noah (Neville Refalo), whom she hasn’t seen in years, suddenly appears, she looks far from overjoyed.
These are the five main stories that comprise AMEN. It is a daring drama that includes some of Malta’s top talent such as John Peel, Daniel Chircop, Pauline Cordina, Susanna Callus, Kimberly Cioffi and Ryan Gauci. Production and direction are by Bryan Muscat while the scriptwriter is Noel Tanti. Mark Doneo is also executive producer.
