Belt-tightening doesn’t seem to prevent demand for another season of Sunday lunches in Malta. But this time, families and friends can look forward to a 5-star Sunday blow-out that is, it appears, one for the record books.
In fact, so wide is the choice for Sunday lunch at the luxury Excelsior, the hotel claims that its Sunday Lunch menu is simply the widest choice to be found anywhere on the island. So if your eyes are bigger than your stomach, the Excelsior offers a feast for the eyes, never mind the appetite. It’s easy to see why. In typical Grand style, the Excelsior offers no less than six live cooking stations. (That’s where a diner’s meal is cooked in front of him or her actually in the restaurant by a chef.)
This is an opportunity for diners to tuck into a never-ending exploration of the world’s finest cuisines that includes second helpings. Each cooking station offers authentic, ethnic dishes from around the world including Asian, Indian and Turkish to French, Lebanese and Spanish using only the freshest ingredients, according to Excelsior’s 60-strong brigade of chefs. To add to the feast, there are 20 different dessert dishes to choose from including that old favourite, the chocolate fountain.
To add to the Sunday Lunch atmosphere, the Excelsior offers live entertainment for the grown-ups, a menu for the children and animation to keep the young ones occupied while the feasting continues.
