The Leone Band of Victoria, Gozo will be holding its Annual Band Concert on Saturday, 7 November at the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora, at 8pm.
The concert is being held in commemoration of the Dogma of the Assumption and also to commemorate the first 50 years of the popular hymn (Innu Marc) dedicated to the Our Lady.
Fresh from the operatic success of Aïda, the Leone Band, which runs the Teatru tal-Opra Aurora, will present a musical journey from the kings of Egypt in Aïda, to the king of pop, Michael Jackson. In a colourful array of styles and genres, the Leone Band shall perform Brahms’ Hungarian Dance No. 5, Jenkins’ Benedictus from the Mass for Peace, a selection from Verdi’s Aïda and the Jazz Suite No. 2 by Shostakovich. On a more contemporary and popular key, the concert will also include medleys by Joe Cocker, Eric Clapton and Michael Jackson.
The general public is invited to attend and to be seated 10 minutes prior to the commencement of the concert. Entrance is free.
