Alison Galea Valletta (pictured) from Attard will be taking part in the Miss Earth 2009 beauty contest being held in the Philippines. This prestigious contest, which is ranked third after Miss World and Miss Universe, promotes the environment through the process. The 90 beauty queens participating in this event are required to select their project tackling environmental problems while implementing a personal strategy to reverse the problem in their respective countries.

Alison, who is graduating in Information Technology in the coming weeks from the University of Malta, is a programmer and an artistic photographer by profession.

While in the Philippines, the delegates will be attending tours, press conferences, photo shoots, tree-planting activities, TV and media appearances. The grand final will be held on 22 November and will be aired live on satellite TV at 10.30pm GMT +8.
