Dr Juanita Brockdorff was appointed partner at KPMG as from 1 January. 10 years ago Dr Brockdorff graduated as a lawyer from the University of Malta, following which she proceeded to read a Masters in International Tax Law at the University of Leiden, in the Netherlands. Having been conferred the degree summa cum laude, she returned to Malta where she joined KPMG in 2002. At KPMG Dr Brockdorff has dealt with and continues to deal with international corporate tax issues, with her advice covering both direct and indirect taxation.

She is particularly interested in the EU's impact on tax law. Her work has been published in international tax journals such as European Taxation, EC Tax Review, Intertax, and Captive Review. She also contributed to "A Decade of Case Law", a collection of essays on international tax published by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD).

Juanita Brockdorff regularly delivers presentations about taxation, both locally and overseas, and for a number of years she lectured the Advanced Taxation module for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), and in the course leading to the Advanced Diploma in International Taxation issued by the UK Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT).

Dr Brockdorff also acts as examiner of tax dissertations submitted to the University of Malta, serves on the Council of the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners (IFSP), and is a member of the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
