A group of young people who seem to think that offroading on church parvises is cool, should think again, especially considering they were foolish enough to post photos of their ‘Night Offroad/7 Visits’ on Facebook without any privacy settings, making this criminal activity visible to anyone who happens to come across them.
One of the group posted the photos of him and his friends in their Landrovers on 18 April, and foolishly tagged himself, along with six other boys (it seems to have been a ‘boys only’ event) in practically every photo.
The name of the album, ‘Night Offroad/7 Visits’, indicates that the group visited about seven churches during their offroading activity, just as Catholics traditionally visit seven churches on Maundy Thursday or on the morning of Good Friday, in preparation for Easter. In addition to the disrespect to religious sanctuaries, driving offroad vehicles onto historical buildings such as these is a travesty and will, no doubt, cause damage.
A total of 50 photos were posted; the first few photos show the group stopping at a petrol station to fill their Landrovers with fuel. The photos then show the group starting their offroading activity, maps and all, in an area that looks like a valley.
After that, they moved on to the church parvises, and even a monument, whose three steps they used to show off their offroading skills.
The album includes clear photos of almost each individual forming part of the group of friends. A quick look at the profile of each of the boys, which also includes their photos and some personal details, indicates that their ages range between 18 and 20.
While the locations they visited are not specified as part of the album details, it seems that one of the photos was taken outside the Siggiewi parish church; in this particular photo, three Landrovers are seen on the steps of the parvis, with the church façade in the background.
In fact, in comments posted beneath this photo, someone wrote: “Siggiewi church? You ****ing crazy s**ts”.
And replying to this comment, one of them wrote: “Hehe oops”, while Peter Pullicino added: “Hahaha”.
Another comment by someone else reads: “hahaha your all mad !!! was its XXX’s idea by any chance !?!” (sic)
The last photo of the album then shows two of the group climbing onto and fooling around with the now-world-famous phallus-like monument in Luqa.
They are so-called adults, and supposedly they have been given a driving licence. But offroading on church parvises amounts to nothing short of a criminal offence and certainly utter foolishness. But posting the photos on Facebook?
