Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi, standing in for Finance Minister Tonio Fenech, said during parliamentary question time that a new Water Services customer care office will soon be set up in Valletta to replace the existing office in Luqa.
Dr Azzopardi was replying to a question by Opposition MP Anthony Agius Decelis, who asked the government to explain why there have been approximately 94,400 complaints within the Water Services customer care office over the past four months, the majority of which have not been replied to.
Also speaking on the matter was Labour Party Whip Joe Mizzi, who said that something needs to be done to remedy this red tape, even calling on the House to debate the issue in parliament to find solutions to eradicate this bureaucracy.
Some people have been waiting months, said Mr Mizzi, before being given an answer and a remedy to their complaints.
Dr Azzopardi admitted the existence of the problem, which explains, he added, why the government will soon set up a new customer care office in Valletta to deal with the backlog of complaints.
