This year is the 5th Anniversary of the dedication of Malta stone, which was placed by the George Cross Island Association on 15 August, 2005.The stone hewn from the granite of Gozo, the small island off the Maltese coast was donated by Malta’s Government on the 60th Anniversary of the Second World War to commemorate all those that took part in the Siege and Defence of Malta 1940-1943,’

A service of Remembrance was held in the Church of All Hallows, The Service was conducted by Rev. Fr. Victor Camilleri, OFM and Rev. Bernard Oliver. A welcome was given by the Lady Chairman Julia Gaw and an address by the Deputy High Commissioner Bernard Hamilton.

The Service was also attended by a previous HC for Malta Francis Cassar, Principal Officers from the GCIA Walter Debttista and Rene Grixti representing the 3/11 Regiment RMA (l) Association, London Taxi Drivers Benevolent Assocaition for War Disabled, Merchant Navy Association, Maltese Cultural Movement together with GCIA members , friends and family.

The Wreath laying was held in the Church due to the inclement weather. Wreaths were laid on behalf of the GCIA , People of Malta, Royal Navy, Army, RAF, Merchant Navy and the 3/11 Regiment RMA (T) Association. The Last Post and Reveille were sounded by Major Paul Carroll from the Royal Marines.

Following the Service in All Hallows, the congregation assembled at the Siege Memorial for a photo shoot at which time the wreaths were placed in their proper positions on the Memorial.

Members of the Association and friends were taken to the Union Jack Club for lunch by the London Taxi Drivers.
