2010 will be the 9th consecutive year when McDonald’s Malta will be organising its annual fundraising event to commemorate World Children’s Day. All proceeds collected this year will be directed to the Dun Manwel Attard Young Adult Education Resource Centre. This centre serves as a bridge for students with complex communication needs and/or intellectual impairment, to move from secondary education level to further educational institutions or vocational training.
World Children’s Day is an annual McDonald’s fundraising event that comes to life each November under one fundraising banner – McHappy Day. With one global message, McDonald’s strives to raise awareness and funds to help improve the well being of children. This Year, McHappy Day will come to life in all McDonald’s restaurants in Malta and Gozo tomorrow. Funds will be raised through different activities. The main one being that €2.35 from every extra value meal sold will be donated towards this fund. On the day all the McDonald’s restaurants will be collecting donations and also hosting various fun and interesting activities for children and adults alike. In addition, all stores will be selling McHappy Day badges, which can be purchased during the week prior to the event.
“Giving back to local communities is a longstanding McDonald’s tradition and thanks to the generosity of our local suppliers, employees, celebrities and customers, I trust that this year’s event will be successful in raising funds for the young adults in care of Dun Manwel Attard Young Adult Education Resource Centre”, said Ugne Biliuniene, Country Manager of McDonald’s Malta.
