Malta Independent Saturday, 20 November 2010, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The recently established fund administration company, Abacus Fund Administration Limited, welcomed 50 guests to their official launch reception at the Westin Dragonara resort in St

Julian’s.

Abacus Fund Administration Limited was represented by managing director Paul Kneen, and regional general manager Mark de Marco, who were joined by two senior representatives of the Abacus group: client service director of Abacus Trust Company Limited, Garry Crossan, and senior operations manager Martin Heaney from Abacus Financial Services Limited.

Commenting on the event, Mr. Kneen said, “Abacus is very pleased to host this event to mark the inauguration of its Malta office and we now look forward to a successful future, building on the success of the Malta fund industry in attracting business as it grows in profile as a well regulated, accessible and cost effective jurisdiction for the domicile of EU funds.”

Professor Joe Bannister, chairman of the Malta Financial Services Authority, discussed the work of the MFSA in their strategy to ensure a prudent but effective regulatory infrastructure is in place in order to promote the use of Maltese structures, which in turn has resulted in the attraction of Malta as a domicile for Fund Administrators and Fund Managers. Prof. Bannister also commented on a number of regulatory developments which the MFSA are pursuing as new initiatives designed to meet, and stay at the forefront of, the ever changing needs of the financial services industry.
