Express Trailers, the leading transport and logistics company in Malta is announcing the appointment of Johann Vella as the new general manager.

Mr Vella started his career at Express Trailers 15 years ago as an accounts clerk, a post he held for two and a half years before moving on to the operations department. For over 12 years he held the position of operations manager and was jointly responsible for the managing, supervision and support of Express Trailers’ international fleet of trucks spread throughout Europe and North Africa. His duties also included overseeing the already good relations with the company’s long list of foreign agents who represent Express Trailers in their respective territories.

In his new role as company general manager, Mr Vella will be overseeing all the business functions within Express Trailers whilst exploring new opportunities for growth. “For our business, being so operationally oriented, I will surely be spending most of my time within the operations department ensuring that everyone involved has the space, knowledge and adequate amount of resources to deliver. While our short term challenge will be that of seeking new ways how current operational procedures can be improved in order to enhance our customers’ experience and concurrently shareholder value, my long term goals include the activation of several plans we have in process which also include some huge investments both in our human resources as well as in our equipment, projects we will unveil in the coming months.”

Commenting briefly about the industry in general, Mr Vella added “although our market has always been limited and restrictive and notwithstanding the size of our country, I still feel there are areas of potential growth. Forming part of the European community gives our industry the opportunity to expand beyond our shores and tapping huge international markets, some of which can provide a substantial return on investment that helps sustain our industry in general whilst keeping a healthy level of competition in Malta,” concluded Mr Vella.
