An additional €4.5 million in cash is being injected into Melita Capital plc by its shareholders, funds that will go towards the operations and continued development of its mobile business in Malta.

Twenty-two months after launching a nationwide 3G mobile network, Melita Mobile is Malta’s fastest growing mobile operator and the additional equity will be used to fund the growth of the mobile operation. Significant improvements in the quality of mobile services have already been registered, with an increased customer satisfaction rate reflected directly as consistent growth in both subscribers and minutes of usage.

Melita has also restructured its businesses and created a holding company that now owns all the various companies operating under the Melita name.

“We are pleased that our shareholders are highly encouraged by our success and growth in the mobile market, and have decided to strengthen the Melita Capital balance sheet for further investment in Melita’s mobile business,” commented Group CEO Andrei Torriani.

The operating companies owned by the newly formed holding company include Melita plc, Melita Capital plc, Melita Media Ltd, Melita Infrastructure Ltd and Melita Mobile Ltd.
