Maltco Lotteries Ltd. has presented the Malta Community Chest Fund with a donation of €15,000. The donation was made to the President George Abela by Maltco Lotteries CEO John Katakis, at San Anton Palace in Attard. Mario Cassar, Maltco’s General Director and Ms Iris Camilleri Mifsud, Corporate Communications Manager were also present for the presentation.

Speaking during the presentation, Dr Katakis said that “Maltco’s donation at this time to the Malta Community Chest Fund shows the need for continuous support for the Fund’s sterling work throughout the year rather than just during fund raising events.” He continued by saying that helping individuals with different needs was always close to his heart. In fact his initial working experience was with paraplegic individuals.

Maltco’s operation of the National Lottery since June 2004 has also enabled the generation of significant funds to the National Lotteries Good Causes Fund. In fact, up till the end of 2010, nearly €5 million were generated for this fund which falls under the remit of the Ministry of Finance. Moreover, since starting operations, Maltco’s activity has generated more than €100 million in revenue to the Government by way of initial and on-going license fees and taxes with over 900 people involved in the operation on a full-time or part-time basis.

Maltco Lotteries has 27% of its shares held by local entrepreneurs while the rest is held by Intralot S.A., the leading supplier of integrated gaming and transaction processing systems, innovative game content and sports betting management, to state-licensed gaming organizations worldwide which is present in more than 50 countries on all 5 continents.
